Flying Solo
Flying Solo

Flying Solo, a realistic fiction by Ralph Fletcher, describes a sixth-grade class on a Friday with a not-so-ordinary day without their teacher. To begin we meet the main character Rachel who has stopped talking after her classmate Tommy Feathers died just 6 months earlier. On the six-month anniversary of Tommys death, she thought it would be a normal day at school, but with her class's teacher not showing up and their sub doesn’t either they decided to run the class themselves. As the day goes on they keep their schedule pretty normal until they all sit down to do what they call a rock ritual which is used when one of the classmates is leaving. the ritual gets out of hand and as the day comes to an end the principal finds out that they had no sub and they are busted. Finally, all of the students had a tough weekend but when they came not only was their teacher not mad but Karen for the first time in six months spoke.
Flying Solo is a great book because of the change in perspective from classmate to classmate and how they all have different lives outside of school. but I also like this book because of the suspense in each of the kids' stories and how they all show their characters from the inside out. But to me, the best part of this book is how detailed and realistic the book really is. And that's why I think that Flying Solo by Ralph Fletcher is a great and descriptive book.

Project 1065
Project 1065, a realistic fiction, by Alan Gratz, describes the effects of a young Irish ambassador who risks his life to save the world. The family of ambassadors for Ireland did their part in the war by relaying information to the Allies. but they had brought their son into the spy business and he had to be a Hitler youth. One day while in school he meets this boy named Fritz whose dad works on Projekt 1065 but then while on a search for a British airman, Michel finds Him and comes back with his parents later that night. the airman named Simon stays with the family for a while and helps Michel put together plans from Projekt 1065 that he can take home. And as they think they are home free they have Michel turn them in to save the world from the Nazis.
I love this book because it brings light to the things that the rest of the world didn’t see the characters have great changes over time that they show with their actions. when I say that it brings light to things the world didn't see I say this because the family is a family of spies who care for their craft. Also, I like this book because of the changes that the characters make throughout the book such as Michel's parents who start as professional spies but eventually, they turn to the option of turning themselves in. That's what I think that this book is great because of the characters, the detail, and the content.
